As teachers across the country are returning to school and some meeting their students for the first time this week, others for only the first few weeks, I see teachers across the Twitterverse creating amazing lessons to introduce their students to their classroom environment.
What would you expect to see in a classroom the first few days of school? If you answered students sitting in rows quietly listening to teachers go over their syllabus, expectations and RULES, then you aren't seeing PIRATE teachers. PIRATES know that those things can wait. It is more important to foster and nurture those fledgling relationships with students. The first few days are vital to showing students your classroom will be different. It is in these precious few hours that we can break out of the typical routine and create the dynamic awesomeness that is a PIRATE classroom.
