Let's examine the College, Career and Civic Life standards! In looking at the C3 Framework there are 4 main topics. Tonight we will discuss Dimension 1. The Main topics are listed below. Please check out the C3 Framework and prepare for our conversation. Here is the link to the C3 Standards DIMENSION 1. Developing Questions and Planning Inquiries DIMENSION 2. Applying Disciplinary Concepts and Tools DIMENSION 3. Evaluating Sources and Using Evidence. DIMENSION 4. Communicating Conclusions and Taking Informed Action Connections to #SSTLAPThe purpose of #SSTLAP is to improve all of us as educators. It is the mission of this chat to examine how we can integrate the concepts and overall philosophy of Teach Like a Pirate into our classroom practices as Social Studies Teachers. I am excited about the multitude of amazing lesson ideas and awesome experiences that have been created by those who participate in this chat. I also realize that the chat has often focused on the philosophical aspects of teaching. We have examined strategies, hooks, and best practices many times with a general educational focus. I am looking to incorporate some opportunities to dive into specific subject matter and create together. I am excited about the positive feedback for creating #edcampsstlap which will include some of those sessions. I am hopeful that when we bring that vision to reality that it is only the start of those types of collaborative efforts. I have been a part of Voxer collaboration opportunities and think GHO adds another level of connection when you can not only see the other person but can actively view resources together. To wrap things up before dropping the questions, tonight's chat is going to focus on social studies content. I am sure there will be over reaching concepts and curriculum connections, but I wanted to let those who aren't social studies teachers what our topic was for the chat. I welcome those who are not social studies teachers to join because they have a different lens that can assist in shaping lessons, especially in creating cross curricular activities. Let's face it, Social Studies shouldn't be taught in isolation, it is interconnected to all areas of life. Embrace those opportunities. Final thought before the questions- I am looking for dates that work for people for #edcampsstlap. Please either drop a comment in the blog post or share your ideas during the chat so we can move forward with the logistics of making this a reality. Tonight's QuestionsDIMENSION 1.
