This past weekend I went to Edcampmadwi and met a lot of educators I have been talking to on Twitter. It was an amazing experience to meet them face to face and get to know about who they are beyond the 140 world. I even had the privilege of being in a session where Dave Burgess skyped with us. I must saw it was incredible to see the energy this guy has. I could go on for pages about the experience, but I will try focus on the concept for this week.
One person I met was Michael Matera @mrmatera who has been discussing gamification with me online for awhile. In our discussion we talked about creating competition experiences to engage our students. So our questions for this week come from that conversation. Oh and of course #tlap because after I scribbled some questions on a notepad, I looked at the hooks for contests and reality TV, and they were pretty similar. While I thought I had created some good ones, I quickly realized where my inspiration had come from. So without further ado here are the questions for 1/29 Q1 How can you include a contest in this lesson to build excitement and motivation? #sstlapQ2 What lesson do you have that needs a new hook? (if you are like me it could be long list-focus on one you will actually improve) #sstlap Q3 What kind of in-class challenge can you create that would play to Ss competetive nature? #sstlap Q4 How could you create an Amazing Race- Scavenger hunt type lesson with your content? #sstlap Q5 Can you divide the class into tribes and create a competition between these teams or tribes? #sstlap Q6 Can you create an interactive review game that includes movement, sport, etc. that pits team against team? #sstlap Any other thoughts or tweaks to the questions, please let me know. What an amazing hour- check out tonight's conversation here Storify. Thanks for all you do to help me improve and grow! You guys are amazing!
