Just saw this awesome resource from NCSS and thought I would share it in #sstlap to help crowdsource more ideas. NCSS Idea Smackdown This morning my Kindergarten daughter began discussing the Mayflower and Plymouth rock with me. She had some basic ideas about the ship and emphatically told me that the trip took 6 Weeks. I was intrigued that she was already discussing the events of the past, and wondered what else she was learning about the early Pilgrims. Q1 How do you teach about Thanksgiving and more importantly the early Pilgrims and Colonists? #sstlap Q2 What are the major themes of Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims are important to focus on? #sstlap Q3 How do you incorporate multiple points of views of historical events such as Thanksgiving and colonization into your lessons? #sstlap Q4 Do you teach the controversial aspects of history or just the warm and fuzzy stuff? Why is it important to delve deeper into history? #sstlap Q5 Thanksgiving is about Giving Thanks- How do you incorporate this concept into your classes no matter what subject you teach? #sstlap Q6 What are you Thankful for? Professionally? Personally? #sstlap Q7 Thanksgiving is rich with traditions- What traditions do you celebrate for Thanksgiving? In your classroom environment? #sstlap What are you thankful for?A couple examples of ChaterPix and how it can be used. It is an app I just started playing with so I created one with my daughter about what she is thankful for and another using a couple of Apps. I used Google Draw to create the image of Lincoln then the combination of ChatterPix with AutoRap from Smule to create the audio rap of the Gettysburg Address. Comments are closed.
